Wilson was a first team NAIA All-American selection in 1973.  He was also a two-time All-Louisiana selection, once a first team NABC All-District selection, and once an All-Gulf States Conference selection.  He was the GSC Rookie of the Year in 1971.  He finished his career as the fifth leading scorer in Northwestern St. history, with 1,548 points for a 20.6 average.  He led Northwestern St. in scoring for three consecutive years, averaging 19.9 points in 1973, 21.7 points in 1972, and 20.3 points in 1971.  His single game scoring high was 37 points.
