LOUISIANA BASKETBALL HALL OF FAME
Simmons was a first team All-Southland Conference, All-Louisiana, NABC All-District and SLC All-Tournament selection in 1981. He was also a two-time second team All-SLC selection. He finished his career as the sixth leading scorer in Louisiana Tech history with 1,563 points for a 14.3 average. He had a school record 81.8% career free throw percentage. He averaged 16.6 points in 1981, 14.7 points in 1980, 15.3 points in 1979 and 10.6 points in 1978. He had a school and SLC record 89.0% free throw percentage (6th in nation) in 1981 and shot 56.9% from the field in 1979.
